Isabel Choat has worked on the Guardian’s Travel desk for 17 years, the last nine editing the travel website.

During that time, the Travel section has evolved to reflect the way our readers travel – we were the first to introduce Twitter-trips, among the first to launch regular local’s guides and, more recently, the first national newspaper section to focus almost exclusively on flight-free travel. Isabel was attempting to go flight-free this year – which is currently proving easier than expected.

Jennifer has been news editor at leading travel trade publication TTG for the past three years. While she oversees the magazine’s industry news output in print and online, she also travels extensively and contributes pieces for TTG’s features section, as well as TTG Luxury.

Before entering travel media, Jennifer wrote for regional newspapers, and worked shifts for the nationals.

Last year, TTG Media was named Independent Publishing Company of the Year at the PPA Independent Publishers Awards.

Jennifer is proud to hail from Rutland, England’s smallest county, on which she has written numerous features and comment pieces.

Paul Charles is a former BBC News Presenter, former Communications Director to Sir Richard Branson at Virgin Atlantic and at Eurostar, and now runs The PC Agency, a global travel PR consultancy based in the United Kingdom. www.pc.agency

Paul and his agency have been named the Most Influential in Travel by PR Week four years running, every year since 2017.

Clients include airlines, tourism boards, hotels and cruiselines including The World Travel & Tourism Council, Tourism New Zealand, Tourism Ireland, Visit Finland, Vietnam Tourism, Choose Chicago, Aer Lingus, Finnair, Regent Seven Seas and The Arts Club among many other luxury brands.

From 2006 until 2009, Paul was Director of Communications for Virgin Atlantic and key adviser to Sir Richard Branson. Paul was responsible for the airline’s corporate, consumer, strategic and crisis communications worldwide.

Before joining Virgin Atlantic, Paul was Director of Communications at the high-speed train company Eurostar and was responsible for launching the UK’s first high-speed trainline.

Claire is Managing Director of MMGY GRIFCO PR, Executive Director of MMGY OPHIR PR and Partner at MMGY Global.

Claire has been working in PR for nearly 30 years. She set up GRIFCO in 2002 and OPHIR in 2011. In 2018 the companies merged with MMGY, one of the world’s leading integrated travel marketing companies. Claire and her teams specialise in the luxury travel PR sector. She has launched many of the world’s most famous hotels and made many unheard of hotels world renowned. She has dealt with many travel crises in the last 30 years and has survived them with clients coming out stronger each time.

Her work ethos includes: a positive attitude, seeing things differently, creative thinking, transparency, sharing, being a team player and the importance of a collegiate workforce. Claire currently works with 85 clients world wide and still has her first ever client luxury tour operator ITC – International Travel Collection as well as legacy long term clients Sani Resort Greece, Hastings Hotels Ireland, Wilderness Safaris, DUKES Hotel London, Beachcomber Hotels and Resort, Jade Mountain St Lucia to name but a few.

Rachel grew up in travel, starting life as an intern at ABC Travel Publications publishing (Travel News and Executive Travel Magazine). From here she went to work in marketing at Keith Prowse Expotel and on to travel PR at Marketeers, TPS Group and Visit Florida, and McCluskey & Associates.

She left travel for eight years to work at leading international agency, Hill & Knowlton where she became board director of the brand groups, leading agency clients such as Kellogg’s, Vauxhall Motors and Sarah Lee Bakery. She then set up Pirahakid Communications for WPP, which became an award winning, youth marketing agency immediately prior to starting Siren Communications in 2002.

Rachel built this small and, once again, award winning business through two recessions, and with a client mix of travel, transport, tourism, food, drink and lifestyle brands – B2B and B2C. Rachel remains excited by the industry and resolute the virus won’t take her team, clients and business away from her.
