MEET THE SPEAKERS

Pat Ridell

Editor

Pat has been editor of National Geographic Traveller (UK) since 2010 and a travel writer and editor for over 20 years. He won Editor of the Year, Travel at the British Society of Magazine Editors (BSME) Awards in 2022 and has seen his publication named Travel Magazine of the Year at the TravMedia Awards three times.
Pat’s a long-suffering Nottingham Forest fan with an unfeasibly large record collection and he hates polystyrene.

Amanda Canning

Amanda Canning has been deputy editor at National Geographic Traveller(UK) for just under three years. Before that, she launched her own independent travel magazine, Good Place, and was deputy editor of Lonely Planet magazine.

Becky Redman

Art Director

Becky Redman is art director at APL Media, overseeing all products including the award-winning National Geographic Traveller (UK) title. Every day is a press day for Becky. Previously, she was Time Out London’s senior designer and a regular freelancer at NME magazine. Becky has been in London for 20 years and hasn’t lost one bit of her American accent.

Henry Hemming (Moderator)

Global Adviser

TravMedia

Henry’s an entrepreneur who recently passed a milestone 40 years in travel, his first day in travel PR dating back to June 1984. Following seven years as a travel writer he created a travel PR company that’s since evolved into a successful multi-sector agency.

He launched TravMedia UK in 2003, as a joint venture with the site’s CEO and founder Nick Wayland, helping to establish a leading UK and global community for travel journalists and PR professionals. Following that he launched News4Media, which operates sister sites Property4Media and Homes4Media.

In 2013, TravMedia UK launched IMM, which quickly became the premier global annual event for media to meet travel brands. In 2024 Henry sold his interests in TravMedia UK and News4Media to Nick Wayland, but remains a consultant for the companies.

Henry lives in East Sussex, is a keen photographer, nature lover and ardent Beatles fan (yeah, yeah, yeah).
