Pat has been a travel writer and editor for almost 20 years and the editor of National Geographic Traveller (UK) since its launch in 2010. He’s overseen the brand’s growth into digital platforms, events and awards and has been shortlisted for Editor of the Year, Travel at the British Society of Magazine Editors (BSME) Awards for six years in a row, with the publication achieving the title of Best Consumer Travel Magazine at the British Travel Awards in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2019. Pat has an unhealthy Nottingham Forest obsession, an unfeasibly large record collection and a love of Australia, Italy, Peru and New York.

Maria Pieri is the editorial director of the award-winning National Geographic Traveller (UK) and National Geographic Traveller Food and has over 20 years’ experience creating and developing travel and lifestyle content for APL Media. Maria is currently the 2020 Chair of the British Society of Magazine Editors (BSME), and is spearheading the BSME Education initiative, in association with Readly.

Amelia Duggan has been an in-house editor and freelance features writer for National Geographic Traveller since 2015. She returned from a two-year spell as a freelance writer in November 2019 to assume the role of Acting Deputy Editor and, in May this year, took on the additional responsibilities of Online Content Editor. In these roles, Amelia oversees the commissioning of features for both print and digital. As a writer, Amelia has gained recognition as Young Travel Writer of the Year and Specialist Travel Writer of the Year (for her work on Latin America) at the Travel Media Awards, and was nominated for Travel Writer of the Year at the AITO Awards and Print Writer of the Year at the BSME Talent Awards. Previous roles include reporter for The Santiago Times and Assistant Editor for ABTA Magazine.

Sarah Barrell is Associate Editor at National Geographic, UK. A journalist and editor with over 20 years in the field, Sarah was a long-standing Travel Editor at The Independent on Sunday, before she joined National Geographic Traveller where she’s been since the magazine’s launch in 2010. She has contributed to several travel books, and authored two, including food travel title, Italy: From the Source (Lonely Planet). She is a regular travel writer at BBC Good Food, and her stories have appeared in The Independent and Independent on Sunday, The Telegraph, The Guardian, The Times, The Express, The Sun, The Scotsman and The Evening Standard, along with magazines such as Olive, Wanderlust, Marie Claire, The Sunday Times Travel Magazine, and ABTA Magazine.

Glen Mutel has been editor of quarterly title National Geographic Traveller Food for the past three years. He’s also executive editor of National Geographic Traveller, and has worked on the title since its launch in 2010. He’s been a travel writer and editor for the past 14 years, having previously edited ABTA Magazine, and won awards for pieces on Panama and Easter Island. Prior to that, he worked as a new reporter for trade magazines such as Campaign and Broadcast.

Matt Midworth is the Commercial Director of National Geographic Traveller (UK) with over 20 years’ experience in publishing. Matt oversees all commercial partnerships and works with the commercial content team to deliver bespoke campaigns across print digital and social.
